Former Pakistan National Cricket Team team manager Rehan ul Haq made a shocking revelation from their visit to India during the ICC World Cup 2023. He said that he was abused on every step he was walking down the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Pakistan were in India during the ICC World Cup 2023, and they didn’t have a great outing in the tournament. But the Babar Azam-led side were greeted pretty well by the Indian crowd on their arrival and also during their league games, barring the India match.
Pakistan lacked support at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium
The only venue where Pakistan lacked support was at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is because they locked horns with India at the venue and the stadium seemed like a sea of blue with each and every fan cheering Men in Blue.
There were some reports that claimed that the crowd there also abused Pakistan players, which didn’t go well with Men in Green. But now, the same has been confirmed by the then-team manager.
While descending 100 stairs, I heard more than 1,000 abuses – Former Pakistan team manager
Rehan Ul Haq said that on every step of the stairs in Ahmedabad stadium, he was abused. He mentioned that by the time he was on the ground, he had heard close to 1500 abuses. Speaking to CricWick, he said:
“On every step of the stairs in Ahmedabad, I was abused, and while descending 100 stairs, I heard close to 1500 abuses.”

Pakistan had a horrible outing against India in ICC World Cup 2023
Pakistan had a horrible outing with the bat and ball in that game. The Men in Green were humiliated by India, who won the match comfortably and also made qualification difficult for the Babar Azam-led side going ahead into the tournament.
Pakistan got all out for just 191 runs inside 43 overs. The skipper Babar Azam slammed a fifty while Mohammad Rizwan hit 49. The rest of the batters struggled to get going as Indian bowlers were all over the opposition. All the bowlers, barring Shardul Thakur, picked two wickets each.
In the chase, India captain Rohit Sharma stole the limelight. The opening batter played a magical innings of 86 runs off 63 balls. Shreyas Iyer also chipped in with an unbeaten 53 runs as the hosts chased the target with 7 wickets and around 20 overs to spare.
Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-final of the tournament while India reached the final unbeaten. But it was the Australia team, who had their hands om the trophy and won yet another World Cup.
