Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal launched an attack on the Babar Azam-led side ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. He said that Michael Vaughan was right when he made comments about Pakistan Cricket as the standard of the team has dropped and no team fears Pakistan.
Pakistan Cricket Team have been in the headlines for the last few months. The team has undergone a captaincy change as Babar Azam was reappointed as the captain of the team. However, after that, nothing has gone their way as they are on the road to the T20 World Cup 2024.
Pakistan Cricket Team drew the series against the second-string New Zealand team. After that to worsen the case for them, they lost a game against Ireland in the series, although they ended up winning the three-match series, it was a reality check for them.
Things have looked bad for the team in the ongoing T20I series against England. After the first match between the teams was washed out, Pakistan faced a thrashing loss in the second T20I against the Three Lions. While chasing 184 runs, they got bundled out for just 160 runs and went 1-0 down in the series.
Despite having a star-studded lineup, things are not going right for them. This might have rung alarm bells in the camp. But with two games still to go, they will have a great opportunity to rectify their errors. But seeing the performances of the team, recently Michael Vaughan took a jibe at Babar Azam-led side over England players leaving IPL to play series.
Michael Vaughan stated that England players should’ve played in the IPL rather than the Pakistan series because he believes that playing in front of a huge crowd, with pressure and expectations, would’ve helped the team for the World Cup. Speaking on the Club Praire Fire podcast, he explained:
“I think you’re going to miss the trick by sending all their players home. You know, I think Will Jacks, Phil Salt, Jos Butler, in particular, playing in the IPL in the eliminators, pressure, crowd, expectation. I would argue that playing here is better preparation than playing a T20 game against Pakistan.”
We pick players on likes and dislikes – Kamran Akmal
Michael Vaughan’s statement didn’t go well with many in Pakistan. They lashed out at the former England player for his comments. But Kamran Akmal was on the same page with Vaughan as he echoed his comments and lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Team.
Kamran Akmal stated that Pakistan Cricket’s standard has gone so down that even teams like the United States of America and Ireland won’t be worried about them in the T20 World Cup 2024. Speaking about the same on his YouTube channel, he said on his YouTube channel:
“I agree with Michael Vaughan, he is 100% right. The standard of Pakistan cricket has dropped so much that no team fears us. Even the USA & Ireland will not be worried about us. We pick players on likes and dislikes.”
The third match of the series between England and Pakistan, which will also be a virtual decider, will be played on Tuesday (28th May) at Cardiff.
