NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma and wife Ritika Sajdeh were on Friday night blessed with a baby boy as wishes poured in from all quarters, congratulating the couple.
Rohit, who previously did not travel with the Indian Test team for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, became a father for the second time as wife Ritika gave birth to a baby boy at a local hospital in Mumbai.
The Indian T20I team, which on Friday wrapped up the South Africa tour with a series-clinching 3-1 win also congratulated Rohit and Ritika, teasing the India skipper that a new cricketer has arrived on the scene.
“Really, really very happy Rohit bhai. We were all waiting for this moment. I will be joining you and the baby soon. Really excited,” said Tilak Varma in a video posted by the BCCI.
“Very, very happy for Rohit and his family. Super Happy,” said Sanju Samson.
“We will now have to get ready for a new cricketer that will be joining us soon,” said T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav.
Rohit and Ritika already have a daughter Samaira, who was born in 2018.
With the baby boy arriving on Friday, there is a possibility that Rohit might make it to the first Perth Test against Australia starting November 22.
Earlier, head coach Gautam Gambhir had said that there is no clarity yet on whether Rohit will feature in the first Test.
