The fleet-footed Dreamfyre , 2-for-2 sprinting on the dirt, tries a new surface and distance in the Oct. 8 $200,000 Surfer Girl Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita Park. Contested over a mile on the turf, the Surfer Girl is for 2-year-old fillies while the $200,000 Zuma Beach Stakes (G3T) is staged over the same conditions for 2-year-olds.
A daughter of Flameaway , a stakes winner on the turf himself, it appears the mile distance of the Zuma Beach will present the biggest obstacle to Dreamfyre as opposed to the surface change. Trained by Golden Gate-based trainer O.J. Juaregui, Dreamfyre captured her first two starts in dazzling gate-to-wire performances. In her last trip to the post, she kicked clear by 3 1/2 lengths in the Aug. 12 Sorrento Stakes (G3) at Del Mar after setting demanding early fractions.
Closing into Dreamfyre’s expected pace will be the Peter Eurton-trained Flattery . The late-running Flatter filly turned in powerful closing efforts to snare her first two outings, including a tally over Surfer Girl rivals Loterie and Angiolletta.
Undefeated Endlessly will attempt his third consecutive victory in the Zuma Beach. The Amerman Racing runner was an eye-catching winner of the Sept. 10 Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes (G3T) over impressive Del Mar debut victor Boltage , who he faces again on Sunday.
