Las Vegas, NV – The Grade 1 Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity is on tap for Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky this Saturday, October 5. Two year old future stars will take to Keeneland’s Polytrack surface and chase this winner’s share of the $400,000 purse over 1 1/16 miles.
A full field of 14 two year olds plus two Alternate Entries had been drawn for the Breeders’ Futurity which is race 7 on Keeneland’s terrific Saturday card. Post time is 4:49 PM. Let’s take a look into the past performances of all 16 potential combatants for this Grade 1 stakes. A win here means an automatic berth into the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in November.
Solitary Ranger – Wayne Catalano trainee had a career defining win last time out – in the Grade 3 Arlington-Washington Futurity September 7 over Whyruawesome after a pair of seconds in his first two career starts – both MSW races at Keeneland. He is expected to be among the morning line favorites and departs from post 6 Saturday.
Conquest Titan – Mark Casse trained clot is coming off a stakes win in just his second career start – the minor Swynford Stakes by 5 1/4 lengths on Woodbine Polytrack August 24 after a fourth in his debut – a MSW at Churchill Downs June 30. He is expected to challenge Saturday and lines up in post 9.
Ready for Action – is coming off a second in his stakes debut – the minor Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stake at Presque Isle Downs after two straight wins on that track – an Allowance and a MSW in the month of August. In five starts he has two wins, a second and a third place finish. He has been successful in his limited experience thus far – hopes are that he can keep the roll going Saturday.
Tiznowforamerica – will race for the third time for trainer Thomas Albertini but is coming off an impressive maiden score at Saratoga September 2 after a third in his debut on that same track August 10.
General Jack – General Jack won the minor Shakopee Stakes at Canterbury Park by three lengths last time out August 3 for trainer Michael Maker in his second career start after a second in a MSW behind Tiger Bourbon at Belmont Park July 12. He is one of just a few stakes winners in the field and should be competitive in the Breeders’ Futurity.
We Miss Artie – Todd Pletcher hopeful had a three length MSW score August 11 after a second in his debut in a similar race at Belmont Park July 4. Last time out was a disappointing sixth in his stakes debut – in the Grade 2 With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga August 29.
