Dixiana Bourbon Stakes 2014 at Keeneland

Las Vegas, NV – The Grade 3 Dixiana Bourbon Stakes comes our way from Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky on Sunday, October 5. The race will feature two year olds willing to go 1 1/16 miles on Keeneland’s turf track for the winner’s share of the $250,000 purse and an all expenses paid trip to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita.

Nine juveniles will take part in the Dixiana Bourbon Stakes – race 9 on Keeneland’s Sunday schedule. Post time is 5:08 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all nine entries for this Grade 3 stakes.

Conquest Tsunami – intriguing Mark Casse trained colt will try to remain undefeated – he has four career starts with four impressive wins – his first three by a combined 20 3/4 lengths. He started her career with a MSW score here in April and went on to consecutive minor stakes scores – the Victoria Stakes in June and the Colin Stakes in July – both results at Woodbine. Last time out was an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Woodbine August 23. Julien Leparoux will guide this impressive colt from post 7. He is cross entered in the Breeders’ Futurity Saturday.

Croninthebarbarian – has two wins and a third place finish in three career starts and is coming off by far his best result – a win in the minor Kentucky Downs Juvenile September 9. Before that was a maiden score July 20 and a third in a similar race in his debut at Churchill Downs June 19. He has won both starts on grass and will have Leonardo Goncalves in the irons from gate 8.

Less Than Perfect – the most experienced of all the entries has seven career starts for trainer Kevin Rice with two wins and a third place finish. He is coming off a nice win in the minor Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stakes at Presque Isle Downs September 25, an OK fourth in the Grade 2 Summer Stakes at Woodbine September 13 and a fourth in the minor Swynford Stakes also at Woodbine. He makes his third graded stakes start and looks to place for the first time in graded company but off a win, Less Than Perfect has to be confident. Willie Martinez will be in the reins Sunday from gate 6.

Lawn Ranger – has a win and a second place finish in two career starts for trainer Kenneth McPeek. He broke maiden last time out at Kentucky Downs September 13 after a second in a similar race at Ellis Park August 1. Chris Landeros will get the call from post 2 Sunday.

Can’t Happen Here – will hit the track for just the second time for trainer Chad Brown after a maiden score at first asking – at Saratoga August 16 Irad Ortiz will be in the saddle from post 3 Sunday.

Danny Boy – made his stakes debut last time out for trainer Dale Romans and finished an OK fourth in the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs September 6 which followed a maiden score in his debut August 1. Corey Lanerie will get the mount from post 4.

Thirtysilverpieces – Wesley Ward trainee has two wins in three career starts – an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out at Churchill Downs September 5 followed a Maiden Claiming score at Saratoga August 6 and a sixth in his debut in July. He looks to build on a two race win streak from gate 5 with Robby Albarado guiding him.

Chief Kitten – Chad Brown pupil will make his stakes debut Sunday after breaking maiden last time out in his second career start – at Belmont Park September 14. His debut was a second in a similar race at Saratoga August 7. Joel Rosario gets the call from the outside post Sunday.

Majestico – D Wayne Lukas trained colt will make his stakes debut Sunday after a second and a third place finish in MSW races – the last coming at Churchill Downs September 19. He makes a huge step up in competition with Jose Saez aboard from the rail.
