Virat Kohli was absolutely distraught after being dismissed at a crucial juncture during the recently concluded match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Chasing 177, RCB were off to a disastrous start as they lost the wickets of their captain Faf du Plessis (3) and Cameron Green (3) inside the powerplay. However, Virat Kohli stood firm at one end to keep his team in the hunt. The former RCB skipper shared a 43-run stand with Rajat Patidar before the latter was dismissed by Harpreet Brar for 18.
Glenn Maxwell (3) could not do much with the bat either and departed cheaply to leave his team reeling at 106 for 4. However, with Virat Kohli still at the crease, RCB were very much in the game. He and Anuj Rawat steadied the ship and just when it looked like he would go for the kill, he was dismissed.
On the final ball of the 16th over, Virat Kohli sliced Harshal Patel’s delivery towards deep backward point where Harpreet Brar took the catch. As soon as Brar took the catch, Virat Kohli put his head down with both of his hands on the knee as he looked disappointed with his failure to close the game for his team.

Virat Kohli departed after scoring 77 runs. His knock came off 49 balls and was studded with 11 fours and a couple of sixes. Meanwhile, it did not take Kohli’s disappointment to turn into delight as RCB went on to win the game by four wickets. Veteran batsman Dinesh Karthik played a fine cameo of 28 off just 10 balls to power RCB to a thrilling win.
With ten runs needed in the last over, he hit Arshdeep Singh for a six and a four to take RCB over the line. The win is RCB’s first of the season after they lost their season-opener by six wickets against Chennai Super Kings last week.
