NEW DELHI: Young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel emerged victorious in Team India’s fielding drill ahead of the highly anticipated Boxing Day Test against Australia starting on December 26 at MCG.
Known for his sharp reflexes and athleticism, Jurel outshone his teammates during a fun-filled session organised to sharpen fielding skills.

The team management, keen on fostering a competitive spirit, announced a cash reward of 300 dollars for the standout performer, which Jurel clinched with his outstanding efforts.
The series stands level at 1-1 following India’s successful effort to secure a draw in the third Test in Brisbane. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday shared a clip of the drill on the social media platform X.
“Target hitting with points system. 3 groups led by young captains. Cash reward on the line. Fun, energy and intensity – #TeamIndia gears up for the Melbourne Test with a lively fielding drill with Fielding coach T Dilip,” BCCI captioned the video.

During the fielding practice session, players were split into three separate groups.
“Today’s target, you can see three stumps. The bigger stump will have one point, the smaller stump will have two points, the ball in the centre will have four points. We are using angles today. You can see three markers. From each marker, each one will go six balls,” India fielding coach T Dilip explained the drill in the video.

The fielding coach said that the primary purpose of conducting the drill was to energise the players ahead of their scheduled net session.
“The key objective for me today was getting all together and making sure that before we kick off into the nets we get some energy going and together as a group when we work it’s outstanding,” he added.
