Devdutt Padikkal hits bullseye to send Faf du Plessis packing at Chinnaswamy

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis didn’t have the kind of outing with the bat he would’ve wanted in the game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The 15th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is taking place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

In the chase of 182 runs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru started on a positive note. Skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli hit some sensational shots as they tried to maximize the powerplay. Du Plessis in particular looked good to eyes and entertained the crowd.

It seemed that it would be Faf du Plessis’ night but his stay at the crease was cut short by the brilliance of Devdutt Padikkal in the field. The Lucknow Super Giants batter produced a magnificent effort and made sure that he brought his team to the top at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Faf du Plessis hit the delivery from Mayank Yadav to mid-wicket. The ball went straight to Devdutt Padikkal as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru tried to sneak in a single, which wasn’t available. The LSG player got a good bounce to gather and picked it in a flash.

Devdutt Padikkal, who had one stump to aim, hit the target as Faf du Plessis fell short of his crease. It was a brilliant effort from the Lucknow Super Giants player as it put his team in the driver’s seat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Here’s the video:

Even though he failed with the bat, Devdutt Padikkal made sure that he stepped up for his team in the field. He helped his team get a crucial wicket. Faf du Plessis scored 19 runs off 13 balls. He batted with a strike rate of around 147 and also slammed three fours in his innings.

Faf du Plessis’ wicket brought Royal Challengers Bengaluru under immense pressure. As just a few balls earlier, they lost Virat Kohli as well. The opening batter scored 22 runs off 16 balls. He hit two fours and 1 six in his innings before M Siddharth removed him in the 5th over.

After Faf du Plessis, RCB lost Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green

After the dismissal of Faf du Plessis, things got worse for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ongoing game against Lucknow Super Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. They lost quick wickets and came under immense pressure as pacer Mayank Yadav wreaked havoc with his pace.

Mayank Yadav first sent Glenn Maxwell packing for a two-ball duck and if this was not enough, he castled the stumps of Cameron Green to leave Royal Challengers Bengaluru in totters. He made both the Australian batters look clueless with his pace leaving the home team tumbling at 58/4 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The onus will now be on Rajat Patidar to take their team home. The right-hander has batted incredibly well so far in the game and would be hoping to continue. He has been undergoing a rough patch and it will be a perfect opportunity for him to take his team home and prove his worth to his team.
