Las Vegas, NV – The Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes comes our way this Saturday, November 20 from Aqueduct in Queens, New York. Two year old fillies will be featured as they go 1 1/8 miles on Aqueduct’s dirt track in search of the winner’s share of the $250,000 purse.
A small field of just six has been drawn for the Demoiselle Stakes – race 6 on Aqueduct’s Saturday schedule. Post time is 2:22 PM. Let’s take a brief glance into the credentials of all six entries for this important Grade 2 stakes – three of which are students of Todd Pletcher.
Stopchargingmaria – Todd Pletcher trained filly is coming off a terrific win by 10 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes on this track November 3 after a third in the Grade 1 Frizette and a second in the Grade 1 Spinaway and a MSW score in her debut. She has been uber-competitive in all four career starts, is the only entry with any stakes experience and is the 8-5 morning line favorite for the Demoiselle. Javier Castellano gets the call from the outside post Saturday.
Got Lucky – another Todd Pletcher trained filly. She has just one career start – a second behind Penwith in a MSW at Belmont Park October 27. Despite the lack of experience Got Lucky is the 5-2 second choice this Saturday. She leaves from the rail with Mike Smith aboard.
Penwith – Kiaran McLaughlin trained filly broke maiden last time out, beating Got Lucky at Belmont Park October 27 after a sixth in her debut on that same track September 15. Penwith will have Luis Saez in the saddle from post 3. She is the 3-1 third choice for the Demoiselle.
