Delhi Capitals are one of the eight original franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL) not to celebrate the title even in 17 seasons.
Since finishing as the third-ranked side in 2021, Capitals couldn’t qualify for the playoffs in the last three editions. Last year, they finished at six under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy.
With Pant’s departure from the franchise, the management announced India’s left-arm spin all-rounder, Axar Patel, as the new captain. The southpaw is confident about the role after contributing to the side’s Champions Trophy 2025 victory.
Faf Du Plessis, who captained the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the last three seasons, will be Delhi Capitals’ vice-captain.
