David Warner begs England fans to boo him in The Hundred 2025

Former Australia batter David Warner is set to make his debut in The Hundred with London Spirit and has no concerns about facing boos from English fans. The veteran opener expressed his excitement about playing in England, stating that he welcomes fans’ reactions as long as they continue to back the team.

Warner has been focusing on T20 leagues worldwide since retiring from international cricket in 2024. He was part of the Dubai Capitals squad that won the 2025 International League T20 but went unsold in the IPL Mega Auction. Warner has now secured a lucrative deal to play for London Spirit in The Hundred.

I Actually Want Them to Come at Australians – David Warner

David Warner, who has often faced a hostile reception in England, has no issues with fans booing him during The Hundred 2025. He recalled his past experiences, including the heated Lord’s Long Room incident during the 2023 Ashes. However, he urged fans to continue supporting London Spirit.

“I actually want them to come at Australians. I love that stuff. That’s what gets me going. But I want them to support London Spirit. If they want to boo me, boo me, but don’t boo the team or anything like that. Keep cheering for us,” Warner told the media on Thursday.

Warner was selected by Southern Brave for the first season of The Hundred but was unable to participate due to a packed international schedule. He was not picked in the tournament last year.

We Just Have to Wait Until I Step Foot on That Park First – David Warner

David Warner opened up about his return to Lord’s, the home ground of London Spirit. He expressed excitement about playing in front of English crowds, stating that their energy, whether supportive or hostile, motivates him. Warner also mentioned looking forward to walking past the Long Room.

“We just have to wait until I step foot on that park first won’t we?. I’ll have to walk past the Long Room first to get to the changing room! I’m really looking forward to it. I know how the English crowds are and that excites me as well, whether they’re supporting me, the team or whoever it is. I just love being over there, playing in front of the crowd,” Warner said.

David Warner’s Heated Exchange with MCC Members at Lord’s

David Warner had a heated exchange with Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) members in the Long Room at Lord’s during the 2023 Ashes, following Jonny Bairstow’s controversial stumping by Alex Carey.

The incident led to the expulsion of one member and the suspension of two others. With Lord’s now serving as Warner’s home ground for The Hundred, he could face an uneasy reception from the English crowd.

The left-handed batter is likely to feature in the playing XI for London Spirit. The tournament will kick off with a match between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles at Lord’s on August 5.
