‘What a ball’, exclaimed an excited Ravi Shastri as Mayank Yadav showed his fast-bowling ability once again by castling Cameron Green with an absolute beauty in the ongoing game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The right-arm pacer made his IPL debut last week when LSG locked horns against Punjab Kings. Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan had shared a century-plus stand and PBKS were looking destined to win before Mayank Yadav’s 3-wicket haul turned the game on its head. LSG went on to win the game quite comfortably in the end.
The Delhi pacer became an overnight sensation with his pace bowling as he constantly touched the 150kph mark. One of his deliveries was also clocked at 156kph and is currently the fastest delivery in IPL 2024.
Mayank Yadav was introduced into the attack by KL Rahul for the sixth over and he made an instant impact. On his fourth ball, he sent back the dangerous Glenn Maxwell with a 151kph delivery. And in his second over, he clean-bowled Cameron Green with an absolute beauty.
The Australian star looked absolutely clueless as the ball went on to hit the stumps even before he could properly move. It was short of a good-length ball that nipped in a bit and the extreme pace saw Green play down the wrong line. Green’s feet did not even move and the ball went on to hit the top of the off stump.
