Las Vegas, NV – The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf comes our way this Friday, November 1 from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The best two year old colts and geldings in the world have been assembled to go one mile on Santa Anita’s turf track for a purse of $1 million.
A large field of 13 two year olds has been confirmed for the BC Juvenile Turf which comes our way at 2:25 PM PT on Friday – the second race on the Breeders’ Cup schedule. Here is a look into the credentials of all 13 impressive combatants for this Grade 1 world class stakes.
Bobby’s Kitten – Chad Brown trained colt broke maiden August 23 in wire-to-wire fashion in his second career start at Saratoga after a third in his debut July 27 also at Saratoga. Last time out was a breakthrough performance – an impressive 6 1/4 length score in the Grade 2 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park October 6. He was incredibly impressive in his last start and is the 5-2 favorite Friday. He leaves from post 5 with Javier Castellano in the saddle.
Giovanni Boldini – Aidan O’Brien trained colt makes his North American debut Friday and has won two of his three starts in Europe – all the last 2 1/2 months. His other start resulted in a third. O’Brien will be looking for his third straight win in this race and has the 7-2 third choice leaving from post 2 with Ryan Moore aboard.
Outstrip – British bred colt has finished in the money in all four career starts – two wins, a second and a third place finish. Outstrip was beaten a neck by the highly regarded Toormore at Glorious Goodwood in the Veuve Clicquot Vintage Stakes (Eng-II) in late July, won the At The Races Champagne Stakes (Eng-II) in mid-September, then was third behind the leading 2-year-old War Command in the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes (Eng-I) Oct. 12 on Future Champions Day at Newmarket. Mike Smith will be aboard the 4-1 third choice on the morning line from post 4.
Bashart – Todd Pletcher trained colt will race for just the fifth time Friday and is coming off an OK second behind Poker Player in the Grade 2 Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland October 6 to follow a career defining win in the Grade 2 With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga August 29. He also had a MSW score August 18 in his first try on grass. Bashart is 6-1 on the morning line and leaves from the far outside post with John Velazquez in the saddle.
Wilshire Boulevard – Irish bred Aidan O’Brien trained colt has two wins and two seconds in seven career starts and is coming off an OK fourth in a Gr. 1 race in Qatar. He will make his first starts beyond six furlongs Friday and is unproven around one turn. Despite the lack of experience he is 8-1 on the morning line.
Aoteoroa – is coming off a nice win in the minor Zuma Beach Stakes at 13-1 odds here October 6 after a fourth in the minor I’m Smokin Stakes at Del Mar September 2 and a MSW score in his debut in August. He has won two of three career starts and departs from post 7 at 12-1 odds with Corey Nakatani in the saddle.
Poker Player – Impressively won the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes last time out over Bashart at Keeneland October 6 after a MSW score and a fourth in a MSW in August. The Wayne Catalano colt is on the radar now after his upset victory in the Bourbon. Poker Player will depart from post 11 at 12-1 odds with Channing Hill aboard.

Shamshon – Irish bred colt won his first two career starts but finished fifth last time out as favorite in a group 3 at Newbury September 21. He stretches out Friday beyond his more comfortable five furlong distance. Richard Hughes will be in the saddle Friday from post 12 as Shamshon is sent off at 12-1 odds.
Bon Accord – is coming off a respectable third in the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes behind Poker Player and Bashart after a nice win at 46-1 odds over Bashart in the minor Calder Turf Dash Stakes August 24. He has two wins and a third place finish in four career starts. Bon Accord will have Joel Rosario in the reins at 20-1 odds from post 8.
All Cash – D. Wayne Lukas trained gelding finished third in his first two career starts – both MSW at Saratoga in August but has failed to place in his last two starts – a fourth in the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes last time out at Keeneland October 6 followed a fifth in a MSW September 21. He departs from the rail at 30-1 odds with Luis Saez aboard.
Home School – Doug O’Neill trained Irish bred colt raced to a fourth last time out in the Zuma Beach Stakes on this track October 6 after an OK third in the minor Oak Tree Juvenile Turf at Del Mar September 4. He had five starts in Ireland before that and career has posted a win, two seconds and two third place finishes in seven starts. Home School is listed at 30-1 odds and will line up from post 6 with Rafael Bejarano in the saddle.
Got Shades – had a pair of minor stakes wins at Louisiana Downs this summer – the Sunny’s Halo and the Sunday Silence Stakes and raced to an OK third last time out in the Zuma Beach Stakes on this track October 6. Gary Stevens has the mount from post 3 at 30-1 odds.
Ontology – has yet to record a win in five career starts and is coming off a distant eighth in the Grade 1 Frontrunner Stakes here September 28. Before that was a second in the minor Oak Tree Juvenile Turf Stakes at Del Mar September 4 after an OK fourth in his graded stakes debut – the Grade 2 Best Pal also here August 4. Ontology will have Mario Gutierrez in the saddle and departs from post 10 Friday at 30-1 odds.
