Las Vegas, NV – The Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf comes our way from Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky this Friday, October 30. Some of the best two year old turf horses in the world will take to Keeneland’s turf track and race one mile searching for the winner’s share of the $1 million purse.
A full field of 14 plus one Alternate Entry will line up in the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf – race 8 on Keeneland’s Friday Breeders’ Cup card. Post time is 4:50 PM. Let’s take a glance into the past performances of all 15 possible entries for this Grade 1 stakes.
Harmonize 7-2 – legendary trainer Bill Mott sends out Harmonize for the fourth time. In three career starts she has two wins and a second place finish – the best of which was a win last time out on this track October 7 – the Grade 3 Jessamine Stakes. Before that was another win in the listed PG Johnson Stakes at Saratoga September third and a second in her debut. Harmonize looks like the one to beat and will depart from gate 8 Friday looking for her third straight stakes score. Junior Alvarado gets the call on the morning line favorite.
Illuminate 9-2 – European shipper, Richard Hannon trained filly won her first three career starts including the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and the Group 2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes in July at Newmarket, She enters off a decent second in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket September 26. Illuminate has been very competitive so far and hopes her success translates in her first North American start. Lanfranco Dettori will be in the saddle Friday hoping to make a little noise for the European contingent – from gate 10.
Catch a Glimpse 5-1 – has two wins in three career starts for trainer Mark Casse and enters off a good win in her stakes debut – the Grade 2 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine September 123. Before that was an Allowance score in August on that same track and a fifth in her debut at Saratoga. Catch a Glimpse has shown rapid improvement and is expected to be in the mix Friday – from gate 4 with Florent Geroux in the irons.
Alice Springs 6-1 – Irish bred Aidan O’Brien trained filly has two wins, a second and a third place finish in six career starts and enters off a win in a stakes at Newmarket at home October 3. She failed to place in two of her previous three starts but certainly bounced back last time out. Alice Springs makes her North American debut Friday in decent form – from post 3 with Ryan Moore guiding her.
Sapphire Kitten 10-1 – has just two career starts for trainer Joe Sharp with a win at first asking in September and a decent second last time out in her stakes debut – behind Harmonize in the Grade 3 Jessamine Stakes on this track October 7. Sapphire Kitten will be chasing her first stakes score and enters in decent form. Julien Leparoux has the mount from post 7.
Thrilled 12-1 – has three career starts for trainer Todd Pletcher with a win in her debut and consecutive runner-up finishes. Last time out was a second to Tin Type Gal in the Grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes at Belmont Park September 27 after another second to Harmonize in the listed PG Johnson Stakes at Saratoga September 3. Thrilled will be looking for her first stakes score Friday but has certainly been knocking on the door. John Velazquez has been tabbed to ride from gate 2.

Ruby Notion 12-1 – Wesley Ward trained filly makes her graded stakes debut Friday having won three of her four career starts. Last time out was a good win in the minor Selima Stakes at Laurel Park September 12 after another minor stakes win – the Colleen Stakes at Monmouth Park in August. Ruby Notion has been competitive so far and hopes her success translates in her step up in competition. Rafael Manuel Hernandez rides from post 5.
Nemoralia 15-1 – started her career in Europe where she posted two wins and a second place finish in four starts including a stakes win at Doncaster September 10. She has one start in North America – a respectable second in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park October 3. Nemoralia has two wins and two second place finishes in her last four starts overall and could contend Friday. Joel Rosario will be in the reins from post 9.
Pricedtoperfection 20-1 – Chad Brown trained filly will hit the track for the third time Friday having posted a win and a third place finish in her two starts so far. She broke maiden last time out – October 17 at Belmont Park after a third in her debut in August. Pricedtoperfection steps into stakes company for the first time – from post 11 with Irad Ortiz aboard.
Last Waltz 20-1 – Chad Brown trained Irish bred filly has a win and two third place finishes in four career starts. Last time out was a third in a stakes at Curragh September 27 after a fourth in a similar race on that same track August 30 and a stakes score at Roscommon August 17. Last Waltz makes her North American debut hoping to snap a two race losing streak. Javier Castellano has been tabbed to ride from the outside post 14.
Andreya’s Reward 30-1 – will race for the fourth time for trainer Milton Wolfson after two wins in three career starts. Last time out was a win in the minor Our Dear Peggy Stakes at Gulfstream Park October 3 after a fifth in the minor Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies Stakes in September and a maiden score at first asking in August. Andreya’s Reward looks decent ahead of her graded stakes debut and will have Edgar Prado in the saddle from gate 6.
Gliding By 30-1 – will race for just the second time for trainer Bill Mott after a maiden score in her only race to date – at Woodbine September 25. Gliding By looks to be in tough in this one as she lines up in gate 12 with Jose Lezcano in the irons.
Mirage 30-1 – Irish bred Simon Callaghan trained had a win in her only start at home before a respectable second in her second career start and only North American race – the minor Surfer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita October 10. She has looked decent in her short career so far and will try to maintain the momentum from post 13 with Jamie Spencer guiding her.
Time and Motion 30-1 – has two career starts with a third place finish to show for it – that coming last time out in the Grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes at Belmont Park September 27. Mike Smith gets the call from post 15.
