NEW DELHI: With the Aussies going all hammer and tongs on Day 2 of the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, pace Jasprit Bumrah brought India back in the game with three quick wickets.
Travis Head and Steve Smith brought up a 241-run stand for the fourth wicket with Smith bringing up his 33rd Test hundred – his first in 18 months.
Bumrah first had Smith caught by captain Rohit Sharma at first slip for 101 on the last ball of the 21st over.
And one over later, Bumrah first had Mitchell Marsh (5) caught by Virat Kohli at second slip and three balls later, had India nemesis Travis Head caught behind by Rishabh Pant to end his rampaging knock of 152 to register his 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket.
This is Bumrah’s second five-wicket haul in this series and he is already the leading wicket-taker in this series.
A standout performer in Test cricket, with several five-wicket hauls to his name across different conditions. Bumrah’s ability to swing the ball both ways, deliver deadly yorkers, and exploit bounce has made him a key bowler for India.
Bumrah’s ability to take five-wicket hauls in diverse conditions – South Africa, England, Australia, and the Caribbean – demonstrates his versatility as a bowler. Despite injuries limiting his Test appearances, he remains one of India’s finest bowlers in the longest format.
