Las Vegas, NV – The eyes of the horseracing world will converge on Pimlico in Baltimore, Maryland this upcoming weekend. Three year old fillies will be featured as they chase a very nice purse of $500,000.

A field of nine females has been confirmed for the Black-Eyed Susan which is race 10 on Pimlico’s Friday card. Post time is 4:47 PM. Let’s take a glance into the past performances of all nine combatants for this Grade 2 stakes.

Greyhound Betting

Emollient – Bill Mott trained Emollient has six career starts with three wins and two second place finishes. She had a fifth two back in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks behind Dreaming of Julia March 30 but bounced back in a big way last time out with a terrific nine length win in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland at 6-1 odds April 6. Her other career results include an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream February 16 and a decent second in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes as the 4-5 favorite at Aqueduct in November in her stakes debut. She has been at or near the top in all six career starts, has won two of three this tear and looked mighty impressive in the Ashland Stakes six weeks ago.

Fiftyshadesofhay – Bob Baffert trained filly has eight career starts – four MSW races to start her career yielded a win, a second, a third and a fourth in her debut before stepping up in the minor Blue Norther Stakes on January 1 and finishing a pedestrian eighth. She had a very nice second behind Beholder in the Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes March 2, won the Grade 3 Santa Ysabel by 5 3/4 lengths January 26 in her graded stakes debut with an impressive Beyer speed figure of 90 and last time out was third in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks April 6 also behind Beholder. She has been in the mix in her last three graded stakes starts and has to be on the radar for the Black-Eyed Susan. She wears blinkers for the first time Friday.

Walkwithapurpose – has seven career starts for trainer Ignacio Correas IV with five straight wins entering her graded stakes debut – last time out in the Grade 2 Gazelle where she finished an OK third. The wins were all at Laurel Park – the minor Caesar’s Wish Stakes by 9 1/2 lengths March 2, the minor Wide Country Stakes by 4 3/4 lengths February 2 and the Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship Stakes by eight lengths December 31. She has five wins and three second and is certainly used to be at or near the top. She is the best of the locals going Friday and is the morning line third choice.

Maracuya – broke maiden in her career debut at Gulfstream March 6 an followed that with an Allowance Optional Claiming score on the same track in her only other career start March 31 in gate-to-wire fashion. She is lightly raced but should provide some speed in her stakes debut.

Manuka Honey – has eight career starts for trainer John Terranova with two wins – both coming this year including the minor Suncoast Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs March 9 and a MSW score before that at Gulfstream February 17. Her other stakes action was an OK third in the Grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes at Pimlico October 8. She starts on the rail on the Black-Eyed Susan.

Marathon Lady – broke maiden in her third career start at Oaklawn Park February 21 and has impressively placed in two graded stakes starts since – a second in the Grade 3 Fathead Bourbonette at Turfway Park March 23 and a third last time out right behind Manuka Honey in the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park April 10.

Petit Trianon – makes her stakes debut Saturday after four career starts but enters on a three race win streak – an Allowance here April 13, an Allowance Optional Claiming March 13 and a MSW in January at Laurel Park.

Toasting – started her career with three straight MSW races and a win in the third. She was a very nice third in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Pimlico in October but was fifth in the Joe O’Farrell Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Calder November 10. In two starts in 2013 she had an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream February 15 and followed that with a third in the OBS Championship (Filly Division) Stakes at Ocala Training Center last time out March 11.

Lady Banks – is a stakes winner – the Ruthless Stakes at Aqueduct January 12 followed a MSW score on that same track December 14. She debuted in November – a second in a MSW at Aqueduct and finished an OK fourth in her graded stakes debut – the Davona Dale at Gulfstream February 23. Last time out was an ugly eleventh in the Grade 2 Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland April 14 for her worst career result.
