A major update has come on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar ahead of their IPL 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 28 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both CSK and RCB would love to take revenge on each other for last season.
However, according to a Revsportz reporter, there is an injury concern for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, raising doubts over his availability for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s upcoming IPL 2025 match against the Chennai Super Kings on Friday (March 28).
Bhuvneshwar Kumar doubtful for RCB’s IPL 2025 clash against CSK
The RCB recently posted a cryptic update on social media, hinting at Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s return, but sources claimed that he faced some initial fitness issues, and he is yet to attain 100% match fitness. The reporter further revealed that Swapnil Singh is also being considered as an option, given his strong record from last season. He said that the RCB will take the final call after the practice session on Thursday, but for now, there is no clarity whether Bhuvneshwar will play against the CSK.
A Revsportz reporter said in a video posted, X: “There were some initial injury issues as far as Bhuvneshwar Kumar is concerned. So, all the best wishes to him for a speedy recovery. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s record against CSK
Earlier, RCB said that Bhuvneshwar had a little niggle and that’s why he had been missed from the team’s season opener against the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens. They had a winning start to the IPL 2025, beating KKR by seven wickets in Kolkata.
Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar hasn’t had great success against CSK, taking 13 wickets in 20 matches with an average of 39.46 in the IPL so far. However, the Indian seamer has been very economical, giving away only 6.90 runs per over against the five-time IPL champions.

On the other hand, RCB has struggled against CSK at the iconic Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s last win at this venue came in the first season of the IPL back in 2008. From the current squad, only Virat Kohli was part of that winning team.
Well, Chennai Super Kings also started their IPL 2025 campaign with a four-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) at home. Afghan pacer Noor Ahmad was the star with the ball, taking four wickets for just 18 runs—the best performance by a CSK pacer against MI.
Khaleel Ahmed also impressed on his CSK debut, picking up three wickets for 29 runs. Chasing a target of 156, Chennai got off to a solid start with Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring crucial fifties. Their partnership set the foundation, as Chennai registered the thrilling win over the Mumbai Indians with five balls to spare at the Chepauk Stadium.
