Kushal Malla and skipper Rohit Paudel ransacked 193 runs in just 65 balls to drive Nepal to the highest-ever team total recorded in men’s T20Is.

Nepal Cricket team broke the record for the highest team total in a T20Is, scoring 314/3 against Mongolia in the first match of Group A of Asian Games Men’s Cricket at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field.

Nepal, who most recently played in the Asia Cup 2023, were put into bat by Mongolia. After losing openers Kushal Bhurtel (19) and Aasif Sheikh (16) in the first 8 overs, Kushal Malla and skipper Rohit Paudel ransacked 193 runs in just 65 balls to drive Nepal to the highest-ever team total recorded in men’s T20Is. Malla remained unbeaten on 137 off 50 deliveries with the help of eight fours and 12 sixes while Paudel’s 61 came in just 21 deliveries (2×4, 6×6).

Dipendra Singh Airee then provided the finishing touches blazing his way to a 10-ball 52 with the help of eight sixes. Extra’s contributed 29 runs with 20 wides, seven no-balls and two byes.

The previous best was Afghanistan’s 278/3 vs Ireland at Dehradun in 2019. India’s 260/5 vs Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017 now finds itself in the 6th position for the highest team totals in T20I cricket.
