‘Ah, that was not too bad’: Glenn Maxwell opens up on facing Mayank Yadav | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell showered praise on Lucknow Super Giants’ pace sensation, Mayank Yadav, following his scintillating spell against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Yadav’s astonishing figures of 3/14 left RCB’s formidable batting lineup in disarray, including Maxwell himself, who succumbed for a duck.

In an interview on ESPNCricinfo’s Around The Wicket, Maxwell acknowledged Yadav’s exceptional talent, saying, “I thought it was really impressive.” He commended Yadav’s smooth action, drawing parallels to former Australian speedster Shaun Tait at his peak.

Maxwell emphasized, “He hurried on a few of the Punjab batters and I certainly did a little bit of homework before coming up against him. But it is nothing doing homework against someone until you actually see it coming out of the hand and have to try and pick up the length.”
“He bowled me the first one, which was just a high bouncer and the wicket that we have been producing at [Bengaluru] has been a little bit two-paced and it sort of came through a bit slower than I thought it was going to. And I was like, ah, that was not too bad,” added the bastman.
Maxwell revealed, “He has some real extra speed, and you do not really see a lot of around world cricket at the moment.” Comparing Yadav’s pace to Tait’s, he added, “It is such a beautiful, smooth action.”

Yadav’s blistering pace, touching 156.7 kmph in the match against RCB, earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ accolade, making him the first player in IPL history to achieve this feat in his first two matches. His control over line and length, coupled with his intimidating presence, has propelled him into the limelight as the next big Indian pace prospect.
