After Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul goes to war with Rohit Sharma ahead of IPL 2024

The camaraderie between Team India stars will take the back seat once the IPL begins and Rohit Sharma has sent out a timely reminder for that. The highly-anticipated seventeenth season of the tournament is scheduled to begin this week. A total of ten teams will be fighting it out in IPL 2024.

In the first game of the tournament, reigning champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be up against each other in a mouth-watering clash.

And ahead of the new season, Rohit Sharma and Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty have joined hands to gang up on none other than KL Rahul. Rohit Sharma will be plying his trade for Mumbai Indians while Rahul will be leading Lucknow Super Giants. On the other hand, Shetty, who is also the father-in-law of Rahul, is a Mumbai Indians fan.

On Wednesday (March 20), Rohit Sharma posted a commercial video on social media where he and Shetty could be seen teaming up against Rahul. Posting the video, the India captain wrote: “Family time over @klrahul , ab rivalry time shuru ho gaya hai! 😌 @SunielVShetty ab hue humare 🙌

A fresh start for Rohit Sharma:

Meanwhile, IPL 2024 will mark the start of a new journey for Rohit Sharma. The veteran batsman will not be leading a team in the IPL for the first time since 2013. He was leading Mumbai Indians since 2013 before being replaced by Hardik Pandya as the captain ahead of IPL 2024.

With no pressure of captaincy, the right-handed batsman would be eyeing a productive outing with the bat. In recent times, Rohit has failed to score big in the tournament and will be looking to do well in the upcoming edition. He has also been in fine form in recent times. He was the second-highest run-scorer in the ODI World Cup last year, scoring 597 runs in 11 games.

In the recently concluded five-match Test series against England, Rohit scored 400 runs with the help of two centuries. On the other hand, Rahul will be returning to action after missing the last four of the five Tests against England due to a quadricep strain.
