Jaker Ali, Mahedi Hasan and Shamim Hossain scored 20-plus runs each to help Bangladesh muster up a 147/6 total. West Indies stars Akeal Hosein and Obed McCoy found the most impact on the bowling front as they combined for four wickets.
The next innings saw Brandon King and Johnson Charles kick off the chase for the West Indies. The Caribbean team endured a similar start, losing early wickets in the game. Within just seven overs, the Rovman Powell-led side were reeling at 38/5.
The skipper stepped up for his team to score a quick-fire 35-ball 60. He smashed five fours and four sixes in his knock. However, Bangladesh star Mahedi Hasan was unstoppable as he scalped four wickets during his team’s bowling display and made sure Powell ran out of partners.
With 10 required in the last over, Hasan Mahmud got rid of Powell on the third ball and picked up the final wicket of Alzarri Joseph on the fifth ball to finish things off.
