Indian bowlers dominated South Africa in 1st T20I
Indian bowlers put on a clinical display in the first T20I, bowling out South Africa for 141 in just 17.5 overs. With a target of 203 runs to chase, South Africa’s batting lineup crumbled under the pressure, never quite finding the momentum as wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Arshdeep Singh got India off to a perfect start, removing captain Aiden Markram for 8 in the first over, setting the tone for what would be a challenging evening for South Africa.
Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi then took centre stage, dominating the middle overs with a mix of accuracy and sharp turns. Chakravarthy was instrumental, picking up three crucial wickets, including dangerous batters Ryan Rickelton, Heinrich Klaasen, and David Miller. His intelligent use of variations saw him finish with figures of 3 for 25, effectively sealing South Africa’s fate midway through their innings.
Bishnoi’s spell was equally impactful. He trapped Patrick Kruger and Andile Simelane with his deceptive googlies, and coaxed Marco Jansen into an ill-timed shot that led to his dismissal, wrapping up his spell with 3 for 28. The right-arm pacer Avesh Khan wrapped things up by castling Keshav Maharaj in the 18th over to help India bag a comprehensive 61-run victory.
