Oversubscribed Looks to Rebound in Pebbles

Klaravich Stables’ Oversubscribed  heads a field of 3-year-old fillies in the Nov. 8 Pebbles Stakes (G3T) at Aqueduct Racetrack. Recently sixth after pressing the early pace in Keeneland‘s Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes (G1T), the Too Darn Hot  filly faces softer company in Saturday’s mile affair.

Lightly raced Oversubscribed burst onto the scene this past summer when she turned a 19-length deficit into a 3 1/4-length victory for trainer Chad Brown in the Wild Applause Stakes during the Belmont at the Big A spring meeting. Among the beaten foes that day was Pebbles contender Macanga , who enters the Pebbles off a 105 Equibase Speed Figure-earning runner-up effort in the Sands Point Stakes (G2T) Oct. 12 over this oval.

Following her stakes score, Oversubscribed was a troubled second by three-quarters of a length in the Lake George Stakes (G3T) at Saratoga Race Course. Both the Wild Applause and the Lake George were contested over the mile trip.

Flavien Prat, Oversubscribed’s pilot in the Wild Applause, reunites with the filly for the Pebbles.

Oversubscribed isn’t the only one on the rebound in the Pebbles, with Parkland Thoroughbreds and Sportsmen Stable’s Jody’s Pride  seeking a return to the form that led her to two stakes wins.

Jody’s Pride, unraced since a seventh in the Ashland Stakes (G1) in April, tries the turf for the first time for trainer Jorge Abreu. Her sire, American Pharoah  , has sired six grade/group 1 winners on the lawn.
