The moment occurred when Gambhir, now a mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) icon, met on the field and left everyone stunned with their sudden chemistry.

However, critics and the media have been questioning whether the hug between Gambhir and Kohli was a genuine gesture of settlement of their past spat or a calculated move to quash the speculations about their relationship and divert them from other underlying tensions.
Actually, Delhi’s iconic cricketers’ sudden display of unity led some to believe it was mere a public relations stunt. However, after guiding KKR to their third title triumph in the IPL 2024, Gambhir finally broke his silence on public notions, only to refuse to give any masala to the media.

Gambhir also hailed Kohli’s six-hitting prowess. He will be next seen in action in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean next month.
But his unexpected appreciation for RCB to record back-to-back six wins to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs has been seen as buttering to Kohli, as Gambhir emerged as a strong contender to replace Rahul Dravid as Team India’s next head coach after helping KRK end a decade-long trophy drought.

Gautam Gambhir was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda: “The perception is far away from the reality. My relation with Virat Kohli is something this country doesn’t need to know. He has as much right as I do to express himself and help our respective teams win. Our relation is not to give masala to the public.”
Earlier, Kohli also reacted to his famous hug with Gambhir in the IPL 2024. The RCB had stated: “People are very disappointed with my behavior. I hugged Naveen-ul-Haq, and then the other day, Gauti bhai (Gautam Gambhir) came and hugged me. Your masala is over so you’re booing. We’re not kids anymore.”
Notably, a BCCI source confirmed that the feud between Gambhir and Kohli has been resolved. The source claimed that despite past on-field clashes, they have maintained a good off-field relationship, sat out to address any issues they had after their breakup last year, and brought harmony.
