“Gujarat Titans add B R Sharath to squad as a replacement for Robin Minz,” IPL announced on Friday in an official statement.
Sharath, a wicketkeeper-batter hailing from Karnataka, has been a prominent figure in domestic cricket.With experience in 28 T20 matches, 20 First-Class games, and 43 List A encounters, he brings a wealth of expertise to the field.
Accumulating a tally of 328 T20 runs, Sharath’s prowess with the bat is noteworthy. Joining Gujarat Titans for his base price of Rs 20 Lac, he looks forward to contributing significantly to the team’s success in the IPL 2024 season.
During last year’s IPL 2024 mini-auction in Dubai, Gujarat Titans made a significant acquisition by securing Minz for Rs 3.6 crore.
Minz, a 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Jharkhand, comes from a region renowned for nurturing promising talents in that role. Jharkhand boasts illustrious cricketers such as MS Dhoni, while Ishan Kishan has also showcased his skills in first-class cricket representing the state.
Last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans and five-time champions Mumbai Indians will square off against each other in a mouth-watering campaign opening clash on Sunday at Ahmedabad.
The fixture has gained a lot of hype because of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya‘s move to his former franchise MI following two great seasons with GT, which saw him win the trophy with the side as captain in their debut season back in 2022.
Pandya will be leading MI this time, replacing Rohit Sharma while Shubman Gill has taken over the captaincy of GT.
