With less than a week until the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have unveiled their new green outfit. RCB will face the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), in the opening match of the IPL 2024.
Since 2011, RCB has promoted environmental sustainability and ecological awareness through their “Go Green” initiative, introducing green jerseys. They have consistently worn the green jersey for one match each season, demonstrating their commitment to the cause.
Fans have warmly embraced RCB’s green jersey, praising the franchise for its innovative approach in advocating for environmental causes. RCB has effectively spread messages concerning conservation, sustainability, and the importance of planetary protection.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Unveil Green Jersey
Following the glitzy RCB Unbox event, Royal Challengers Bengaluru arrived in Chennai in the early hours of Tuesday aboard a charter flight. The team is slated to face the defending champions in the season opener at the iconic Chepauk Stadium on March 22.
Before the highly anticipated season opener, the Faf du Plessis-led team organized a photo shoot to unveil their newly introduced green outfit. The image of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s distinctive attire has swiftly gained traction across social media platforms.

RCB has participated in 13 matches wearing the green jersey, but their performance has been lackluster. They secured only four victories, and one match was abandoned in 2025. The team debuted the green attire during the 2011 season against Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
Will Try My Absolute Best For The Fans – Virat Kohli
At the RCB Unbox event, Virat Kohli expressed his unwavering commitment to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, vowing to help the franchise win the IPL title this season. Kohli emphasized the significance of fulfilling the aspirations of RCB’s dedicated fans.
“As everyone knows, I’m always gonna be here, try to be part of the group that wins it (IPL) for the first time… I will try my absolute best for the fans, for the franchise… its kind of a dream of mine as well over so many years, to know what it feels like to win the IPL.”
In a recent interview with RCB.tv, the ex-captain expressed his rejuvenation after experiencing a period of normalcy. He conveyed his enthusiasm for the commencement of the IPL season and his return to Bangalore.
“It’s really good to be back, firstly playing cricket and just starting off the IPL. It’s always exciting to come back to Bangalore for the start of the IPL season. So, similar emotions, similar feelings and I haven’t been off the media radar. I have been into the normalcy, you can say, for two months. So, yeah, I am pretty happy and excited to be back and I hope all the fans are excited and happy as well.”
With RCB still seeking their maiden title, expectations are soaring, especially after their WPL side’s recent victory. All eyes will undoubtedly be on Virat Kohli as he returns to cricket following a hiatus.
Virat Kohli has scored 7263 runs across 237 IPL matches with a remarkable average of 37.25 and a strike rate of 130.02. In the 2023 IPL season, he scored 639 runs in 14 matches, including two centuries and six fifties, at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82.
