Ahead of the Second ODI match between India and Australia, here’s how the two teams could line-up
Team India, under the leadership of KL Rahul, showed their dominance over the mighty Australia in the opening ODI to secure a comfortable five-wicket victory in the match. The Men in Blue will look to continue the winning momentum in the upcoming fixture to win the three-match series. The home assignment marks the final preparation for the Indian side ahead of the all-important ICC ODI World Cup. The second ODI between India and Australia will be played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on September 24, Sunday. Both teams are expected to field the same playing elevens that featured in the first ODI.
The young opening pair of Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad deserve enough praise for India’s comfortable win in the last game. Both batters notched up centuries and stitched a 142-run partnership when the hosts were required to chase a 277-run target in 50 overs. Australia tried to make a comeback with some wickets in the middle overs. But Indian skipper KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav put up a gritty performance to spoil the plan. India ultimately sealed the deal in 48.4 overs.
From Australia, Adam Zampa fetched two scalps, while Pat Cummins and Sean Abbott picked one wicket each. Among the Indian bowlers, pacer Mohammad Shami produced the best performance and folded up a five-wicket haul.
