I don’t think I can say this on camera but I was s******* myself – KL Rahul
During the interaction with Simon Doull, Rahul ignored the TV-PG guidelines and stated that he was s******* himself during the latter half of the innings. The right-handed batter added that the big matches are all about maintaining composure, and he was quite confident of taking his team past the finish line.
“I don’t think I can say this on camera but I was s******* myself at the end, but we still had a couple of batters to come, I was confident we could get over the line,” KL Rahul said.
“In moments like this and big games it’s more about holding your composure which we all know about it but it’s not easy, but happy to win this and get over the line this time. I think I’ve batted in times like this in 3 out of the 5 games (in this CT) and one of the games I didn’t get to bat at all against Pakistan.”
The game has given me good time – KL Rahul
Rahul further said that he and other Team India players have been groomed very well by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to step up on big occasions and handle pressure. He elaborated:
“The game has given me good time in the middle and good time to prepare for a big moment like this. Hard to put in words, pure skill and the way we’ve all played our cricket growing up, had to face a lot of challenges, we’ve had to face pressure from the time we’ve held a bat and from the time we decided to be professional cricketers.
“The way the BCCI has groomed every talented player and the first-class circuit has trained us to handle pressure, giving us the platform and the opportunities to showcase our skills, to put ourselves under pressure and keep challenging ourselves, and getting better, I think it all comes down to that.”
