9-Year-Old Red Knight Rallies to Take Man o’ War

Ralling from last under Irad Ortiz Jr., Red Knight pulled away late to take the $600,000 Man o’ War Stakes (G1T) May 13 at Belmont Park.

A homebred for Trinity Farm, Red Knight is a New York-foaled 9-year-old gelded son of Pure Prize . The Mike Maker trainee raced 1 3/8 miles on a firm inner turf course in 2:13.74, paying $12.80 to win.

Soldier Rising  closed to grab second in a blanket finish for the minor awards, edging Strong Tide  for the show. Howe Street  was fourth.

Favored Warren Point  flattened out to be unplaced after making an early move on the race’s second turn.
