Trained by two-time race winner Todd Pletcher, Gouverneur Morris will be ridden by Javier Castellano and break from post position 10.

Also figuring to draw support is Anderson Stables’ By Your Side. Winner of his first two starts that included a 3-length triumph in the Sanford (G3) at Saratoga, By Your Side finished fifth in the slop in the Hopeful (G1) in his most recent start.

Trained by Eddie Kenneally, By Your Side will break from post position two and be ridden by Corey Lanerie.

By Your Side Works For Keeneland Breeders’ Futurity

By Your Side, winner of the Sanford (G3) at Saratoga, worked 5 furlongs in :59 Friday morning, the fastest of 12 works at the distance, in preparation for the 106th running of the $500,000 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) to be run next Saturday, October 5 at Keeneland Racecourse.

Working at 9 a.m. over a fast track and with Corey Lanerie aboard, By Your Side posted fractions of :11.80, :23.40, :35.20, :47.40 and galloped out 6 furlongs in 1:12. Working outside of the 4-year-old stakes-winning filly She’s Pretty Lucky, By Your Side started a length back, drew even at the eighth pole and finished a length in front.

“He seems to like the track,” trainer Eddie Kenneally said. “That is his second good work here. He had a bullet here last week (a half-mile in :47.60, the best of 13).”

A Keeneland sales graduate, By Your Side won his career debut at Churchill Downs and defeated future Runhappy Hopeful (G1) winner Basin by a nose. He followed that victory with a 3-length triumph in the Sanford before finishing fifth behind Basin in the Hopeful over a sealed, sloppy track.

“We are hoping that (the sloppy track) is the case (for his Hopeful showing) and we can draw a line through it,” Kenneally said.
