OffTrackBetting.com – Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California will be the scene of the G3 Señorita Stakes on Saturday, May 6. Three year old fillies will chase the winner’s share of the $100,000 purse when they take to Santa Anita’s turf track and race one mile.
A field of six will line up in the Señorita Stakes – race 5 on Santa Anita’s Saturday schedule. Post time is 2:30 PM. Let’s take a look into the past performances of all six combatants for this interesting G3 stakes.
2017 Señorita Stakes Entries at Santa Anita Park
Sircat Sally – impressive Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly has five career starts and has won them all. She made her graded stakes debut last time out and won the G3 Providencia Stakes by 2 1/4 lengths in gate-to-wire fashion here April 8 after two minor stakes scores on this track – the China Doll Stakes March 11 and the California Cup Oaks January 28. Before that was a win in the minor Soviet Problem Stakes at Los Alamitos in December and a maiden score by five lengths at first asking at Del Mar in November. Sircat Sally has been superb so far and looks to remain unbeaten from gate 4 Saturday. Jockey Stewart Elliot will try to accomplish that goal.
Beau Recall – Irish bred Simon Callaghan trained filly has a win and a fifth in her two starts in Europe and has been good in her two North American starts. Last time out was a runner-up finish behind Sircat Sally in her stakes debut – the minor China Doll Stakes on this track March 11 which followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score here January 29. Beau Recall steps into graded stakes company for the first time in decent form and will have Joe Talamo guiding her from post 3.

Spy Ring – Irish bred James Cassidy trained filly has a win and three runner-up finishes in six career starts. She makes her North American graded stakes debut Saturday on the heels of three straight seconds – an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out in her North American debut here April 2, the Irish Stallion Farms Bosra Sham EBF Fillies Stakes at Newmarket in October and a Handicap in October. She finished sixth in the Group 3 Grangecon Stud Balanchine Stakes in June as well. Spy Ring looks for her first win since her first career start and enters in OK form. Rafael Bejarano has been tabbed to ride from the rail.
Helen Hillary – will hit the track for just the second time for trainer Phil D’Amato having posted a nice win in her only career start so far – at Santa Anita March 25. She takes a major step up in competition Saturday off a pretty good effort and will have Tiago Josue Perreira in the saddle from gate 2.
Pacific Wind – has just one career start for trainer Peter Eurton and it was a good one – a maiden score on this very track March 4. Pacific Wind steps into stakes company for the first time looking to make a name for herself when she departs from the outside gate 6 with Jamie Theriot guiding her.
Tiburtina – Irish bred Patrick Gallagher trained filly has just one win and a second place finish in her eight career starts – those decent results came in Britain. She has two North American starts and hasn’t looked great in either – a fifth last time out in the G3 Providencia Stakes here April 8 followed an eighth in the G3 Jimmy Durante Stakes at Del Mar November 26. She placed in just one of her final four starts in Europe – that being a second in the Preis des Medienhauses DuMont Rheinland Winterkonigin in Germany September 24. Tiburtina has now placed in just one of her last six starts overall but will be out to make a little noise Saturday from post 5. Corey Nakatani will be in the saddle.
